The Prakash Raj-Lalitha Kumari divorce case took a new turn today with the wife filing a petition at the Egmore Family Court seeking Rs. 2 lakhs per month as alimony.

Lalitha had always maintained that she preferred to live with her husband and continued to fight for the cause. However, this sudden move has raised many an eyebrow in the film industry.

An actress who had appeared in several small time roles, Lalitha is the younger sister of Disco Shanthi. Prakash Raj – Lalitha Kumari couple has two daughters and their son died at a very young age.

When a film is declared a success at the box office in India, it is quite natural that it would be remade in other languages. And this one is no exception!

Magadheera, the smash hit film starring Ram Charan Teja, is all set to be remade in Tamil. Although there are reports that Ajith could star in this film, there is no official confirmation yet. Reports also suggest that the film could be renamed after the super hit yesteryear film Maaveeran, which had Rajinikanth playing the lead role.

Meanwhile, Kollywood is abuzz with news that Kalaipuli S Thanu is gearing up to produce the film in Tamil.

The Shriya starrer “What’s Cooking with Stella?” is due to be showcased for the international audience at the prestigious Toronto International Film Festival beginning September 10th. Shriya, who plays an important role in the film, has been invited to walk the red carpet during the event.

Excited over this, the actress says that it is an honor to rub shoulders with international film celebrities. She revealed that she has discussed her costumes with her designer. Known for stirring up several controversies for wearing skimpy clothes during several events in Kollywood, she was quizzed about her preference, to which Shriya said that she would consider wearing clothes that will reflect the Indian tradition. The lady hinted that she may wear a saree during the event.

Two vans promoting Kandein Kadhalai were flagged off on August 14th in an effort to popularize the film’s music. The personnel in the van will pose simple questions about the film to the people and those who give the correct answers will be presented with the audio CD of the film.

The campaign has attracted a lot of people and it has turned out to be a good venture to promote the film and its music. The van will travel all over Tamil Nadu and come to an end on August 31st.
Kandein Kadhalai is the remake of the Hindi film Jab We Met. It stars Bharath and Tammannah in the lead roles and the film is directed by Kannan.

With Vikram’s Kanthaswamy doing reasonably well, the actor has shifted his undivided attention to Mani Ratnam’s Raavan, which is also said to be in the finishing stages. Playing a negative role in the film in its Hindi version has raised speculations that the actor’s next target is Bollywood.

However, in a recent interview to a popular news paper, the actor said that he is not familiar with the Hindi language and this would be a barrier in understanding what the director wants. But Vikram was quick enough to add that he would never miss a role if it was offered by Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra or Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Media reports flowed in a few days ago that Chaya Singh is all set to tie the knot with a Hyderabad hardware merchant very soon. With expectations over the wedding dates soaring high, the actress clarifies that the reports are not true.

Chaya Singh said that marriage is definitely not on the cards right now and could take another couple of years. According to the actress, she wishes to stay in the film industry and work in some meaningful projects. Time and again one question that director Gautham Menon faces is if there are any chances of working together with music director Harris Jayaraj again. And this time too, the director has maintained that the decision not to work together was not his but Harris’.

Gautham adds that his dream to work with AR Rahman came true in Vinnaithaandi Varuvaaya and this paved way for signing him up for his other projects as well. However, the director maintains that he prefers to work with Harris as well as Rahman in future.

Danseuse and actress Shobana’s famous dance drama Maya Ravan’s DVD was released yesterday by actor Kamal Haasan and Kanimozhi MP received the first copy from him.

Speaking at the event, Kamal rued that late Sivaji Ganesan was not given due recognition in the country. The actor, however, pointed out that the scenario is slowly changing for the better.

Kamal pointed out that Tamilians do not differentiate between a hero and an anti hero but applaud the performance when it is top class. On a final note, he appealed to Shobana to conduct a play on Maya Narakasura.

Madhavan, in a recent interview, has said that plans are on to make a sequel of the smash hit film Yaavarum Nalam (13B in Hindi). The actor said that making a sequel for Yaavarum Nalam is a difficult task because it needs to match the expectation levels of the audience.

At present, Maddy has his hands full with three Bollywood films – Sikander, 3 Idiots, and Teen Patti and the director of Yaavarum Nalam, Vikram Kumar has been signed up to direct Vikram starrer. With both the actor and the director busy with their own projects, it needs to be seen when the duo would find time for the sequel.
